Make every moment count. Time is one of the most valuable gift in the world which money cannot buy. At the same time, time is priceless.  Although,  we go  to work and have our time paid, we still  get to miss out on other things in our life.  

Compartmentalize your lives. I say lives because our role, although we are one, are very separate from one another.  People and experts often say   that we have to have work- home life balance but  can it really be done? We are entirely different people in the roles that we play. 

All I can say is, that you separate your work from your family life and vice-versa. Create a sacred time for family,  a time that no one or nothing can  keep it away from you.  If you overlap one with the other, it will burn you out and will just create unhappiness and lesser time for anything.

We often say,”We work for our future.  We spend a lot of time making money for our family.” Don’t you think that we spend most our waking hours working to create a  prescribed life  just to  keep up with everyone?  If you complain you don’t have time for family it’s because you choose to be.  We all have a choice.  We choose to work 60 hours a week.  We choose to buy the high-tech gadgets. We choose to  create so much “fluff” in our lives that we have forgotten what is truly essential.  

If you need time, you have to make time. Prioritize… prioritize… prioritize. All the money in the world will never matter when relationships with loved ones get affected. Family relationship is very important and it is always worth fighting for.  Money can’t compensate your time away from your family.  Appreciate and be grateful for the time given. I know times are hard today, but we need to be present also  in each other’s lives or else  a time will come that  we all become stranger and only relationship we have  to our loved ones is because you are related by blood and nothing else.

Sadly, many  relationship get destroyed because of this.  Remember, the  best gift you can give your child or your loved one is  your presence. It warms the feelings when  we remember things, we are there.  Don’t wish for time.  Create it.

May we all find time for more important things in our lives. May we be blessed with more opportunities to spend time with our family. Amen.
